We are delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to step into a combined Clinical Team Leader and Specialist Clinician role within our Paediatric School-Aged Services in Conwy.
This role offers the best of both worlds: the chance to lead and develop a dedicated clinical team while continuing to deliver high-level specialist practice.
Role Structure
Clinical Team Leader - 2 sessions per week
Highly Specialist SLT - 8 sessions per week
Clinical Team Leader Role:
- You will play a key role in shaping high-quality services for children and young people across Conwy. You will be responsible for the full range of operational line management duties, including:
- Providing direct line management to SLTs, working closely with the Head and Deputy Head of Service to ensure equitable, high-quality provision.
- Using strong coaching and facilitative leadership skills to empower colleagues, encouraging innovation and supporting the team to think beyond traditional service models.
- Working collaboratively with SLT clinical leads to ensure that operation and clinical priorities are aligned.
- Responding creatively and efficiently to service pressures, ensuring that priorities reflect the needs of the population.
- Offering strategic oversight of service areas to promote accessibility, consistency, and timely intervention.
Main duties of the job
Highly Specialist SLT Role:
Alongside your leadership duties, you will continue to work as a Highly Specialist SLT, contributing your advanced clinical expertise to support children and families.
Key Clinical Responsibilities being:
- Providing clinical leadership, working closely with Local Authority partners and SLT colleagues to ensure effective, equitable and responsive service delivery.
- Working collaboratively with SLTs and education staff to support integrated and joined-up practice.
- Carrying a highly specialist caseload, assessing and developing interventions for children with complex speech, language, and communication needs.
- Working directly with children and young people, alongside providing training and advice to Specialist Teaching Assistants, mainstream school staff, and other professionals.
- Leading on service development projects.
- Providing supervision, guidance, and professional support to SLT colleagues and members of the wider workforce.
