Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to become a member of the Research and Development team in BCUHB. The role will provide research administrative financial support for staff across the organisation in order to manage, with the support of the Research team, all research governance and processes which need completing on behalf of the organisation. It is expected that the role will be worked from Holywell mostly with the possibility of working on other sites. The role will provide comprehensive financial administrative support in the Research and Development Department and provide advice and support to all staff within the organisation who are involved in undertaking research. This post will also develop your personal understanding of research and financial systems, and give you an opportunity to work across BCUHB with a range of different staff.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job
To process and manage all aspects of income for the Research and development department , including external recharges and contracts with NHS and non-NHS providers and partners. Ensuring that all income and invoices are processed and accounted for in accordance with set procedures and Accounting standards, and that all information is provided in accordance with statutory reporting requirements, timescales and standards, through the completion of own work and the coordination with other colleagues across the Research and Development and Finance Department and wider Health Board.
To work within the Team providing professional assistance, financial advice and support to Managers, undertaking investigation into complex financial variances and take corrective action as necessary.
To investigate financial enquiries, providing assistance and advice as required, supporting the production and publication of the Research and Development annual financial report and monthly spending plan returns, Health Boards Statutory Annual Accounts in line with Welsh Government Policy and guidelines.
To provide timely and meaningful financial management information within tight financial time scales and ensure that work is completed in compliance with Standing Orders, Standing Financial Instructions and Scheme of Delegation.
At times required to discuss financial matters with overseas visitors and private patients and their relatives in respect of cost and charges.
