Job summary

An exciting opportunity has become available at Ruthin Community Hospital. We are seeking to appoint a confident, credible and inspirational Band 7 Ward Manager to work as a pivotal member of the Community Hospital team in providing effective leadership, delivering high quality care, service improvement and workforce development with the support of the Locality Matron. If you are passionate about developing care closer to home, and developing new ways of working, which are entirely patient, focused, you should come and work with us. We work on the principle of a bottom up approach and welcome everyone contributing their ideas for improvements we can achieve together.

There are 27 beds supported by a multi-disciplinary team to provide rehabilitation, bedded re-enablement where care needs cannot currently be supported at home, possible long term care needs that require further assessment, fast-track pathway (where preferred place of death is a community hospital), non-weight bearing pathway (up to 6 weeks) where care needs cannot currently be supported at home and 'Step-up' admissions from home in appropriate cases for acute hospital admission avoidance.

The hospital is a busy and thriving community hub with a busy Out Patients Department with visiting Consultants from different specialities. We also have a varied team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Podiatrists and Memory clinic on site.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder is responsible for the 24 hour management and provision of nursing care within the designated clinical area.
  • The post holder will be an expert in the assessment, planning and implementation of all areas of nursing care and provide clinical leadership within the service.
  • The post holder is responsible for ensuring that high standards of clinical evidence based care are continuously achieved and monitored.
  • The post holder is responsible for ensuring that the Health Board Dignity Pledge is implemented within their area of responsibility and that at all times, members of staff treat patients, families and colleagues with dignity and respect.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
