Job summary
PERMANENT CONTRACT: Band 7/8A 0.6 WTE Macmillan Clinical Psychologist, Cancer and Palliative Care based at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Rhyl, Denbighshire.Trainee clinical psychologists due to qualify in September 2026 are welcome to apply.
Due to career progression of the current post-holder, an exciting job opportunity has arisen to join BCUHB's Cancer and Palliative Care Psychology Service as a qualified Clinical Psychologist, working from an administrative base in Rhyl. This post is available at 8a, or as a preceptorship at 7/8a with support for career progression.
Guided by the banding appointed to, the post holder will also offer advice, supervision, consultation and training to health care colleagues working across cancer and palliative care services. We enjoy strong links with the North Wales Clinical Psychology Programme at the University of Bangor, where various opportunities to teach and support trainees are available.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist with experience of working in physical health settings who wishes to provide a high quality clinical service through direct and indirect clinical work with adult patients. This is an exciting opportunity to obtain experience of and develop skills in providing psychological services within the growing adult health psychology field. The post will involve working alongside a Consultant Clinical Psychologist within the Cancer and Palliative Care Psychology Service within the wider and expanding group of health clinical psychologists providing services across BCUHB to other health populations. There will be opportunities to support the continuation and development of an innovative range of services for people affected by cancer and those with palliative care needs. This includes our award winning cancer related fatigue service, education sessions for health care professionals, and related resource development for colleagues and service-users.
