Matron For Gynaecology Services

Job summary

The post holder will act as the professional nurse lead providing clinical advice, leadership development, monitoring and management of all nursing resources for gynaecology services in North Wales, to facilitate excellent nursing practice ensuring the delivery of a high quality, patient centred service.

The post holder will work alongside the operational and leadership team in Women's Services to support Gynaecology Inpatient and Outpatient services across North Wales.

Travel between all 3 acute sites across North Wales will be required, base to be discussed at interview. The role will involve participation in Bronze on-call rota for Women's Services.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

Prime focus of the role is:-

  • Providing a clean environment for care
  • Ensuring best practice in infection prevention
  • Improving clinical care standards
  • Treating patients with dignity and respect

The post holder is required to be a clinical leader and expert in gynaecology, providing both expert clinical support and intervention directly to patients in a variety of settings; and supervision, guidance and support for the nursing teams and the wider multidisciplinary teams who care for patients, families and carers.

Provide leadership and direction to Nursing Managers, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Advanced Nurse Practitioners and other Nursing Staff, and in collaboration ensure that nursing/midwifery staff comply with BCUHB standards and take the appropriate corrective action where required.
