Rotational Pharmacy Technician

Job summary

This Band 4 rotational post offers a varied and rewarding opportunity to work across both hospital and primary care settings within the Health Board. The role supports the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-focused pharmaceutical services, contributing to medicines optimisation across care pathways.

In the acute hospital setting, the technician will support dispensing and accuracy checking, stock control, ward-based medicines management and patient counselling, ensuring timely and accurate supply of medicines under senior supervision.

Inprimary care, the technician will work with Prescribing Support Pharmacists and GP practices to deliver medicines reconciliation, support audits, and improve repeat prescribing systems, while promoting safe, cost-effective prescribing. This element of the rotation will also support work for inpatients across the community hospital sites, completing work similar to the acute sector.

This role suits a motivated and flexible technician keen to develop their skills across sectors. Strong communication, organisational, and IT skills, along with a commitment to professional development, are essential.

Main duties of the job

The post covers a wide range of duties including

Dispensary based activities

Counselling patients

Dispensing Controlled Drugs and psychiatry medication

Repeat medication

Discharge Lounge support

Ward team roles, supporting medicines management

Medicines reconciliation

Working in GP Practices.

The opportunity for Aseptic rotation may also be available
