Job summary

The Specialist Behavioural Support Service (SBSS) is part of the Community Learning Disability Service and works with children and adults with learning disabilities and behaviours that challenge across BCUHB and the six local authority areas of North Wales.

The SBSS uses the model of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) to conduct behavioural assessments to determine the underlying functions of behaviours that challenge and develop effective intervention plans.

SBSS works closely with the Community Learning Disability Teams to identify people who use the service who may be vulnerable to destabilisation as a consequence of behaviours that challenge which may lead to out of area placements.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work alongside the Senior Specialist Behavioural Nurse into one of the six county areas of North Wales.

The post holder will be supervised to hold a case list and will undertake behavioural assessment and plan and implement interventions according to the SBSS referral pathway.

This post will include support to newly qualified Nurses to complete necessary inhouse training / preceptorship programme to develop core competencies and skills and experience required to fulfil their Band 5 / Behavioural Nurse role within the SBSS.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
