Senior Medical Education Fellow

Job summary

This position will allow the successful applicant to develop the necessary attributes to fulfil a leading role within medical education in the future while maintaining a regular commitment to clinical practice.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

  1. Develop knowledge, skills and experience in teaching and training
  2. Gain experience in the assessment of learning and peer review of teaching
  3. Gain experience of supervising and mentoring junior clinical colleagues with a commitment to medical education (e.g. academic foundation year doctors)
  4. Contribute to the development of novel local teaching programmes
  5. Contribute the organisation and delivery of the local widening access to medicine programme
  6. Fulfil the requirements needed for an educational qualification (e.g. Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma in Medical Education) and/ or to meet the Professional Standards Framework for teaching and supporting learning in higher education (FHEA)
  7. Maintain clinical practice in a relevant specialty

  • MB ChB MRCP/ equivalent

Desirable

  • Specialty qualification (Primary FRCA, MRCEM, MRCP or equivalent)

Experience

  • Minimum of one year of post-foundation programme clinical practice

  • Completion of core training in anaesthetics, acute care common stem, or equivalent
  • Post-graduate experience in critical care (minimum 3 months)
