Job summary
The post holder will:
Provide support in STI screening, treatment, and care services.
Provide support in the provision of contraceptive services as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Support the delivery of Nurse Led initiatives, working to protocols set by the service.
Chaperone Dr's and nurses during genital examination of patients.
Maintain house keeping and stock levels. Placing orders through Oracle
Maintain personal and professional development.
Work in clinics after appropriate training and experience, under supervision from members of the nursing team and medical staff.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
Contribute and participate to the implementation of high standard holistic sexual health / care services .Promote and maintain a confidential, comfortable and safe environment for all clients.
Ensure the safe disposal of clinical waste and ensure that sharps bins are changed and disposed of regularly in line with infection control advice.
Collect specimens after appropriate training (venepuncture) and undertake urine testing and accurately document results (pregnancy tests / labstix).
Ensure accurate labelling, identification and safe collection of specimens and blood and the safe transport of the same to the laboratory.
Provide basic knowledge and information acknowledging own limits / role and have the ability to explain testing procedures. Help to overcome barriers to understanding for patients relating to information about their procedure / sexually transmitted infections.
Prepare and support patients for examination and assist and support senior staff in the provision of clinical care procedures.
Be respectful of client's social, cultural and religious beliefs.
Assess patient condition during and after examination procedure.
Carry out clinical duties in accordance with service guidelines, procedures and protocols and The NHS Board local standards and policies.
Assist in the monitoring of standards of care within the Board's Governance Framework and agreed priorities.
