An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Band 5 physiologist/nurse to join the Respiratory Physiology team in Ysbyty Gwynedd. This will be a fixed term 3 year post. The successful candidate will support the Sleep/NIV/Lung function team in providing diagnostic tests to the general public as outpatients and also those who are ward based. Experience within Respiratory Physiology is desirable.
Main duties of the job
Perform maintenance, calibrate and assess quality control of equipment within areas of assessed competence.
Perform lung function testing with inpatients and outpatients unsupervised after assessed for competence.
Assist Senior Physiologists in more specialist tests in accordance with international standards and CPAP/NIV assessment and provision.
Demonstrate continuous professional development by working towards relevant professional qualifications and registration as required by the department guided by the departmental lead.
Maintain accurate patient information systems.
Undertake administration duties e.g. answering telephone queries, dealing with appointments and ordering consumables under appropriate supervision.
Have a desire and motivation to learn and help the development of the department and other members of staff as well as University students which may be undertaking research in coordination with the Lead Respiratory Physiologist.
About us
The respiratory physiology team is a small team of 4 whole time physiologists, one part-time NIV physiotherapist and a whole time administrator. The department is very dynamic and we support over 3000 patients in the community on various devices for sleep disordered breathing. All aspects of lung function testing is carried out to provide the referring consultants with results to act upon and treat patients with lung disorders. We support each other and work well as a team.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
