Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and highly motivated person to join our phlebotomy service. You will be required to provide a phlebotomy service and will be based in the Renal and Diabetic Unit, Wrexham Maelor Hospital.

As the first point of contact, it is essential that you have a professional, welcoming and helpful manner at all times.

Your role will involve dealing with renal and diabetic patients who attend outpatient clinics.

We are looking for someone to be part of the team, who works confidently and efficiently, with the ability to prioritise their own work load demonstrating a helpful, courteous, professional and sensitive manner at all times.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will perform a safe, patient centred phlebotomy service for all patient groups. The post holder will be expected to work alone and liaise with Renal Physicians, nurse specialists and other Health Care Professionals. They will be expected to travel to different clinical sites when required (sometimes at very short notice). The post holder will perform reception duties and deal with telephone enquiries from the public, GP practices and will supervise to less experienced Phlebotomists.
