Job summary

The Head of Health, Safety and Security, in partnership with the Associate Director of Health, Safety and Security is accountable for leading the strategic & operational provision and development of a high quality, cost effective and efficient Health, Safety and Security Service. To meet the needs of the Health Board and external companies and ensures the health, safety and wellbeing of employees at work. They act as the competent person for the organisation as required under Health and Safety legislation:

You will be expected to hold chartered membership of IOSH or equivalent.

Main duties of the job

General management of a team of Health and Safety Advisors with a deputy head of H&S and a deputy head of security you will be responsible for the day to day management of

The Corporate Health and Safety team,

The Security / V&A Team,

The Fit Testing Programme Team

The Manual Handling Training Team

Accountable for the implementation of Health and Safety policy within the Health Board with oversight of Health and Safety visits by advisors and RIDDOR reporting. At a senior level you will be expected to contribute at high level to the corporate risk team and the Chief Executive experience of working within the NHS is desirable

This post is fixed term / secondment for 6 months due to meet the needs of the service.

  • Educated to higher degree level (e.g. Masters) or demonstrable equivalent experience in a complex healthcare environment

  • Accredited Security Management Specialist Qualification (or equivalent)
  • Training qualification or extensive equivalent experience of developing and delivering health and safety / non clinical risk training

Desirable

  • Occupational Health and Safety specialist training qualification (eg IOSH)
  • NEBOSH Construction / Fire / Environmental certificates
