Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual who can help us grow, support and develop our Robins Volunteering Scheme. The Robins Scheme was established in 2011 as a ward based befriending service. Our Robins support our patients in a variety of ways, from making a cuppa/hot drink, general reassurance, running errands and meeting and greeting patients on arrival at our hospital sites.
This role will provide opportunities to be creative, to develop the scheme with new roles that will provide scope for our Robins to grow and develop their skills. You will manage a small team of volunteer co-ordinators, who will work with you to deliver a robust volunteer programme that will support the health board into the future.
Main duties of the job
- To support the Head of Organisational Development in the planning, organising and development of the Robins Volunteering Service both internally and with partner agencies.
- Plan and organise a broad range of complex activities to enable the Robins Scheme to grow and develop taking account of new and innovative opportunities in volunteering. There is a need to be flexible and adaptable to adjust these plans if required through close assessment of budget and resources available.
- The post holder will be the BCUHB interface and point of reference for members of the public, staff and other agencies in relation to volunteering in the health board.
- Lead on the design and development of new Robin volunteer roles with staff, volunteers and our patients.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
This post is fixed term for 24 months due to - meet the needs of the service
Happy to accept secondments either internal or external, pending manager's approval.
