Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen, for a Deputy Head of Healthcare at HMP Berwyn, Wrexham. The post holder will deputise responsibilities for the operational management and clinical leadership of all health and wellbeing services within HMP Berwyn and the strategic relationships with key stakeholders and partners including but not limited to His Majesties Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS), Wrexham County Borough Council, Public Health Wales, WAST, Health Inspectorate Wales (HIW) and commissioned services within the wider prison estate.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for the operational management of all healthcare services within HMP Berwyn and the strategic relationships with the wider prison environment, His Majesties Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) and Health Inspectorate Wales (HIW), commissioned services within the prison estate.
To play a lead in forging partnerships with and influencing all key stakeholders in the health economy to ensure the widest possible participation in the health and social care agenda to support the development and delivery of strategic objectives.
Contribute to and participate in the corporate management of the Health Board, working together with Senior Management colleagues, in order to provide the best possible healthcare within the available resources. The post holder will also ensure, that the decisions of the Health Board are implemented effectively.
Promote and develop within prison healthcare services the culture of a learning organisation and continuous development towards attaining best clinical practice and achievement of high standards of clinical governance.
To be a positive role model for staff throughout Prison Healthcare providing strong leadership (to 100 + staff) and leading change through people by effective collaborative working and empowering and influencing others.
The post holder will use their initiative and take responsibility for themselves and the quality of their work and the service they provide to patients.
