Job summary

The post is full time. The post is a general post although particular interests may be accommodated. The post holder should become involved in all aspects of the Department's work including teaching, audit, elective and trauma care.

The post holder is expected to be well experienced with cataract surgeries, including complex cases. The post holder should also have expertise in emergency ophthalmic procedures, lasers, intraocular & periocular trauma and endophthalmitis management.

The post holder may be required to travel to outreach community clinics located at Llandudno, Holyhead, Pwllheli and Dolgellau.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a Consultant Ophthalmology Consultant with interest in Glaucoma to join the Department of Ophthalmology in this beautiful area of North West Wales. The Department of Ophthalmology currently consists of 3 Consultant Ophthalmology Consultants, 2 Agency Locum Consultants and one Specialist Doctor. With support from 1 Associate Specialty Doctor and 4 Specialty Doctors. The Ophthalmology department has close links with the other 2 hospitals in Betsi Cadwaldr University Health Board, Abergele and Wrexham hospital. This post will be mainly based at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor, but could be required to travel to community clinics located in Llandudno, Holyhead, Pwllheli and Dolgellau.
