Job summary
We are looking for a motivated full time, permanent Band 6 Orthoptist to join our team of 3 Orthoptists and 10 consultant Ophthalmologists based at the Eye Unit, Abergele Hospital.
The Orthoptic department provides general adult and paediatric clinics including patients from eye casualty, neurology, stroke rehabilitation, secondary vision screening and special schools screening.
The Orthoptic service is based at Abergele Hospital with outreach clinics at several community locations therefore the post holder must have a driving licence and car.
We are an accredited department for undergraduate students and as a teaching hospital we are involved in the clinical teaching of medical students, junior doctors, pre-registration optometrists and other professionals. The successful candidate will be required to work as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
Professional development is encouraged and full participation is required in clinical audit, clinical governance sessions, departmental meetings and courses/seminars relevant to the role.
Applicants must hold a degree or diploma in Orthoptics and be registered with the HCPC.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post. Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
