Job summary
North Wales and BCUHB has recently implemented a new Stroke Pathway and continues to develop and improve our stroke services. An exciting opportunity has come up to join our newly formed Stroke Early Supported Discharge (ESD) team working as a multi-professional rehabilitation assistant (MPRA). The post is 37.5 hours per week. The team aims to provide a high standard of specialist stroke rehabilitation in patient's home in line with national guidelines. You will be fully supported to develop your skills and competencies for the role with an intensive induction and dedicated training program led by the specialist stroke team. You will have excellent scope for continuous development and training, working alongside specialist physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and dietitians facilitating stroke rehabilitation for people in the community who are recovering from a stroke.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about rehabilitation and empowering people and willing to see patients in the community. You will need to be self-motivated, compassionate, and able to work with a large and varied team, with the desire to continually learn new skills and adapt to a changing rehabilitation environment. Recent and relevant experience in a therapy healthcare setting is therefore essential. Proficient computer skills and the ability to meet the travel requirements of the post are also essential.
Main duties of the job
The posts will involve a wide range of duties including assisting therapy programmes with a holistic approach, facilitating daily rehabilitation, following acute care to the community in line with national standards, delivering individual therapy sessions guided by a multi-disciplinary therapy team, gathering data to support local and national stroke service audit (including updating the Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme electronic database), and supporting the ongoing development of stroke services in the region.
The team are based in the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Rhyl and the successful applicant will provide home-based rehabilitation across Conwy and Denbighshire.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
