Job summary

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) is looking to appoint a Specialty Doctor in Forensic Psychiatry based at Ty Llewelyn Medium Secure Unit. Bryn Y Neuadd Hospital, Llanfairfechan, North Wales.

This is a new full time Specialty Doctor grade post (1WTE) to join 3 current full time Forensic Consultants.

You will provide specialist psychiatric assessment, treatment as well as basic medical support for those individuals in Ty Llewelyn Medium Secure Unit.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for providing psychiatric input for the inpatients resident at Ty Llewelyn Medium Secure Unit.

All referrals to the unit are managed by a single point of access and a weekly planning meeting.

You will undertake reports as required for the Ministry of Justice, Mental Health Act Review Tribunals, as well as CTP and ASR reports.

You will be based with Ty Llewelyn and work with the ward and service managers to ensure clinical leadership of the multi-disciplinary team and will assist with clinical supervision of the team. It is anticipated that the post holder will assist in training of team members in clinical matters.

The post holder will be expected to comply with the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010 and undertake responsibilities under the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010.

You will also be expected to undertake responsibilities if approved under the Mental Health Act (1983) as a section 12/2 approved doctor. Routine 136 assessments do not fall into the post holder's responsibilities.

  • Full Registration with the General Medical Council.
  • Minimum of four years (full time or equivalent) in postgraduate training in the UK or equivalent EEA training.
