Job summary

As part of our transformation and development of Child and Adolescent Mental Health services, we are expanding our pathways and services to provide a rapid, robust and extended multi-agency crisis response that includes prompt assessment, liaison, consultation, training and where appropriate intensive time limited interventions for children and young people up to the age of 18, who are experiencing an acute mental health and/or psycho-social crisis.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of a crisis provision for the children and young people across North Wales.

We are looking to recruit highly experienced, registered practitioners who have extensive clinical knowledge and skill within CAMH crisis services. We would welcome skills and experience in clinical leadership and enhanced clinical decision making when working with young people and families with complex difficulties. The post holder will provide formal and informal clinical supervision to colleagues and act as an initial point of escalation for clinical matters as appropriate. There will be an 'on call' requirement within this post that will aim to cover the hours of operation with senior leadership to colleagues.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will undertake assessments within A+E, paediatric wards and other community settings to support the provision of a rapid crisis response in the least restrictive way, but also consistent with identified needs, to ensure the safety of the young person safety and others.

In addition, you will provide clinical formulation, identifying the young person's and family's needs, offer liaison, consultation and brief intervention where required to facilitate safe discharge and support care planning across partner agencies. The post holder will be required to work flexibly as the service develops towards a 24-hour provision.

The post holder will be a part of a multi-disciplinary unscheduled care service, working with young people who are experiencing a mental health and/or psycho-social crisis, whereby hospital admission is a strong possibility, but can be safely supported at home or within another community setting.

The post holder will provide urgent assessment and brief intervention and / or specific evidence based therapies to children and young people with mental health problems and significant mental health disorders. To support parents carers and front line professionals in understanding and supporting the child / young person through providing education, advice and direction on how to manage the condition.
