Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Ward Sister on Ceiriog Ward, a 27 bedded ward and is part of the East Area Management Team. Ceiriog ward cares a wide variety of patients with complex care needs and is the feeder ward for the stroke unit. We work closely with all members of the MDT and encourage patients and family involvement in all aspects of patient care.
This post requires motivation, enthusiasm, excellent communication skills and demonstration of evidence based clinical practice. The candidate should also be a mentor with recognised mentor experience and a proven history of providing supervision to junior staff. The successful candidate should be motivated and enthusiastic about your own professional development and be open to undertaking further academic qualifications. They must be flexible, approachable, compassionate, motivated, hardworking and be able to manage their time effectively.
The successful candidate will receive support in their new role and will be encouraged in further development. They will gain experience in directly leading and managing staff with clear guidelines and goals. Main duties of the job
To support the Ward Manager in the day-to-day management of the ward. To take charge of the ward in the absence of the Ward Manager. To ensure the ward runs efficiently, by promoting mental health care through Health Board policies and NMC guidelines and code of practice.
To contribute to the development of junior staff, which furthers the objectives of the service, by providing supervision and tuition, based on research and developing trends in health care.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
