Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board are investing into a new Acute Medicine model for the patients of North East Wales. We wish to further strengthen our acute medical team to provide excellent acute care to the population of North East Wales and the service provided at our Wrexham Maelor District General Hospital.
Working with excellent colleagues in Acute Medicine and other specialties, this is a great opportunity to work in a progressive and expanding department. You will join our rapidly transforming acute medical team, staffing a new acute medical unit with short stay ward, ambulatory care area and acute admissions area.
Our offer will include:

- Support provided to add clinical leadership to the role to support clinical governance across the Medical Directorate
- Opportunity to drive innovation across all directorates within the Wrexham DGH footprint and East area locality.
Main duties of the job
- Take a lead for development of ambulatory care, specialty in-reach or other service developments
- Provide a consultant service for outpatients and inpatients at Wrexham Maelor Hospital.
- Take part in the Acute Medical out of hours cover.
- Participate in departmental meetings, audit and clinical governance activity (including appraisal and revalidation).
- To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team and in close liaison with consultant colleagues in Directorates of Medicine.
- Develop strong working links with primary care in an effort to reduce unnecessary admissions
- Perform a prominent role in undergraduate education in particular clinical history taking and clinical examination. Medical students will be attached to the clinical team on-call during each 24 hour period.
