Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to become a Speciality Doctor within the Sexual Health/GUM Service, which provides Sexual Health clinics for the area of Wrexham including HMP Berwyn and community clinics at Connahs Quay, Mold and Infoshop at Wrexham. The successful candidate will work alongside the department Consultants and other colleagues in diagnosing and managing STIs, assessing and providing contraception. There will be opportunity for more learning which will be provided in the department.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will join a team of 2 Consultants, 1 Associate Specialist, 2 Speciality Doctors and experienced Nursing & Administration teams. The role will be covering 8 sessions per week; 6 clinics, one of which will be a late clinic, one SPA activity and 1 Admin session. The clinics take place during the workday week between Mondays to Friday.
The envisagement of the role will be to provide the service where it is required, so flexibility is needed, however the main base for the role will be at the Wrexham Maelor Hospital, which is one of three District General Hospitals within BCUHB and provides health care for North East Wales, but also receives patients from North Powys and Shropshire. There are 650 acute beds and most specialities are provided that would be expected in a large DGH.
