Chief Pharmacy Technician - Band 7
This is an excellent opportunity to work within HMP Berwyn Cat C male training prison, with a remand facility, with a capacity of 2,106.
As Chief Pharmacy Technician you will be responsible for Pharmacy services within the Pharmacy team whilst working with a multi-disciplinary team of health and wellbeing professionals to deliver high quality services to patients.
This is a challenging but rewarding role for an individual who is an excellent communicator, confident and able to exercise strong leadership and management skills to deliver a pharmacy service across Primary Care, Integrated Substance Misuse & Mental Health Services. You will lead an on-going programme of development to ensure high standards of patient care are maintained, whilst fostering effective working relationships with NOMS, prison colleagues and other stakeholders.
This post is key to the development and delivery of high quality, evidence based health and wellbeing services to give prisoners access to interventions and support equitable to those provided by the NHS in the community.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Chief Pharmacy Technician to join our pro-active Pharmacy team. In this post, you will be responsible for leading the provision of a high-quality pharmacy service provided to patients at HMP Berwyn, working to ensure safe and efficient delivery of medicines for both in-patients and for discharge. With excellent organisational skills, you will deal with the unpredictable demands of a busy department ensuring that key targets are met.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

HMP Berwyn is based in beautiful North Wales near to the historic city of Chester.
By car it is approximately 20 minutes from Chester, 40 minutes from Liverpool, Warrington and Shropshire. Free onsite parking and gym facilities are provided
Health and wellbeing services are provided seven days a week day throughout the year. Your duties will include first and second reception screening for new arrivals, medication administration and triage. The role of the nurse during the night is varied, your primary role will be to respond to medical emergencies during the night state. It also involves assessment and treatment of patients who have arrived and need support for their mental health or substance misuse needs as well as other underlying health conditions. In addition you will be responsible for emergency equipment checks and responding to the men's health applications.
Our team includes GP's, Team managers, Nurses and HCA's; emergency care is an MDT approach and all our clinical staff are trained to deliver intermediate life support (ILS). Pharmacy is managed by our pharmacist and supported by technicians and assistants.
