Job summary
The Radiology has a total budget in excess of £24m. It operates services to patients on 18 sites in North Wales with over 450,000 examinations undertaken by Radiology annually. Radiology employs nearly 350 w.t.e. staff, comprising consultant and SpR radiologists, radiographers, nurses, administrative and clerical and health care support staff. Radiology also provides a Consultant Radiology service to the population of North Powys. The service requires the safe use of potentially harmful radiation for diagnosing & treating disease or injury from all referral sources e.g. wards, outpatients, emergency department, community services and primary care. The Radiology service is reliant upon complex and expensive equipment to deliver the service.
The Radiology Service Manager will be one of three, each managing a Service; West, Central or East. The Radiology Service Manager will be responsible for approximately 130 radiography, nursing, helper and clerical staff and manage a budget of approximately £6.5m.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate radiographer to join our senior team as the Radiology Service Manager for the Central Area of the service based at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.
The successful candidate will be responsible alongside the Clinical Lead Radiologist for the delivery of high quality effective radiology services at Glan Clwyd Hospital and it's community sites. You will also be a member of the senior radiology team supporting the delivery of radiology services across North Wales.
Radiology operates services for patients on 18 sites in North Wales. There are currently over 450,000 patient visits per year. Radiology employs over 380 WTE staff, comprising consultant radiologists, specialty doctors, specialist trainees, radiographers, nurses, administrative and clerical and health care support staff. BCU Radiology is the pilot site for Wales for implementation of the Quality Standards in Imaging (QSI). The service in the central employs approximately 130 staff and has a budget of 6.5 million
The role is pivotal to ensuring radiology services are delivered to the highest standards of evidenced based practise that meet the needs of patients, their families and the wider health community.
