Job summary

We are seeking 2 enthusiastic Consultant Radiologists who have a sub-specialty interest in Musculo-skeletal Imaging to join our team of MSK radiologists; in Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) for the population of North Wales one base in Wrexham Maelor Hospital and one in Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.

As part of the Health Board's strategic collaboration with Bangor University, individuals with an interest in teaching and research who can demonstrate and agree a possible contribution to the School can be considered and nominated for recognition through the University's process for granting honorary titlesand help to deliver our shared vision for the North Wales School of Medicine and Health.

Main duties of the job

The radiology service has links with tertiary referral centres at the Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital Gobowen, Major Trauma Centre in Stoke and other regional centres across the North West of England.

There will be opportunities for developing interests within medical education and research. The service has its own radiology trainees from the North Wales training scheme, with links to the National Imaging Academy of Wales and the School of Medicine and healthcare sciences at Bangor University.

There is a major equipment replacement programme in place that will see a new SPECT, MRI, CT, interventional and digital Xray rooms installed over the next twelve months. A business case is in development for a static PETCT scanner for north wales and a new PACS and RIS is due to be installed in 2024.

About us

The successful candidate will join a friendly and enthusiastic team of 12 other consultant radiologists and contribute to the general workload of the department and an on-call rota which benefits from the services of an overnight outsourcing company and home tele-radiology. Radiologists have access to both department and homework stations to facilitate a variety of job plans and flexible ways of working. Alongside the consultant radiologists are a team of reporting radiographers with an extended role supporting service delivery.
