Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who will be responsible for the provision of medicines management support to Tywyn Health Centre in the delivery of safe, high quality and cost effective prescribing. Building and maintaining strong relationships with the practice's clinicians and staff as part of the practice's multidisciplinary team. Working with patients to optimise medicines management.
The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to engage with colleagues at all levels.
Main duties of the job
Implement practice based medicines management plans that support the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) medicines management strategy.
Monitors practice prescribing expenditure against budget on behalf of the Health Board (HB) in order to fulfill statutory obligations to keep primary care drug costs within that budget.
Support the practice to utilise Medicines Use Reviews completed by community pharmacists to optimise patient care.
Developing systems for the implementation of practice level treatment protocols and drug formularies e.g. set up preferred product lists on the GP prescribing systems.
By observation and audit ensure robust repeat prescribing systems are in place and implemented. Also assist in on-going training of new and existing staff laid down by documented protocols within the practice setting.
The post holder will be required to maintain strict confidentiality and will be expected to deal with GPs, Practice Managers, Health Board Managers and other staff in person and in writing, with courtesy and discretion. Promptly and efficiently exercising own judgement to resolve patient queries within their professional constraints.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
