We are looking to recruit an additional Consultant colleague to join our department of 14 WTE Consultants for a pleasant and rewarding life in this area of North West Wales.
The post is based at Ysbyty Gwynedd Hospital, part of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. We offer a full range of DGH services, as well as some regional tertiary services for North Wales. North Wales is a magnet for outdoor enthusiasts, with excellent transport links to nearby Liverpool and Manchester, and a direct rail link to London
Main duties of the job
The post is for a surgeon specialising in hand, wrist & elbow surgery. The candidate must be comfortable covering most aspects of the work required by a DGH Trauma & Orthopaedics department and should note that this includes on call cover for the hospital.
The successful candidate will work within a friendly, progressive department of 14 consultants, trainees and speciality doctors covering the range of T&O services you would expect in a busy DGH.
The post is offered as a 10PA contract with a 7:3 DCC:SPA split. In order to receive the full 3 SPA the successful candidate would be required to become actively involved in one or a number of departmental activities. The 7 DCC comprises on call work in addition to elective commitments. Additional work above 10PA may be available via the job planning process.

- Full GMC Registration
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via: -CCT or CESR (CP) - it is proposed that the CCT/CESP (CP) date must be within 6 months of the interview date
- FRCS (ORTH) or qualification of a higher level
- Fellowship in hand / upper limb surgery
Desirable
- MD or other higher degree
- Further qualification in hand surgery i.e. British Diploma in Hand Surgery / European Diploma in Hand Surgery (or expected completion of above qualification within 12 months of appointment)
