Job summary

A rare opportunity has arisen within the Cardiology team at Wrexham Maelor Hospital for an Arrhythmia Nurse Specialist. This is a full time post that has become available due to one of the current team members retiring. The hours will be worked over five days (Monday - Friday). The Arrhythmia Nurses at Wrexham Maelor Hospital provide a high quality, comprehensive and innovative nurse led service to patients experiencing heart rhythm conditions.

Main duties of the job

The Arrhythmia team consists of 1.8 WTE with an additional member of Cardiology nursing staff providing extra support to the busy team 1 day a week. They are a hospital based service providing inpatient and outpatient care for people with heart rhythm abnormalities such as Atrial Fibrillation, Atrial Flutter and heart block, coordinating and delivering the Nurse Led Cardioversion service, coordination of the North Wales Complex Devices Service, providing care and expert advice to patients presenting to the Emergency Department and offering education, training and clinical expertise to Primary and Secondary care staff.

The post holder will function as an autonomous practitioner and ideally will be trained to MSc level and be an Independent Prescriber (or be willing to undertake). You should have significant Cardiology experience and a passion for delivering high quality care as part of a multi-disciplinary team. You will be supported by the current Arrhythmia Nurse Specialists, Consultant Cardiologists, the Cardiology Nurse Practitioner and the wider Cardiology team..
