General Practitioner - Meddygfa Gelligaer Surgery

Job summary

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic patient focused GP, to join our supportive, family orientated Practice Team. Sessions are negotiable and flexible. We have a stable list size of 8,300 patients.

The successful candidate will be employed by the GP Practice/Medical Centre, not Aneurin Bevan University Health Board

Main duties of the job

As a Practice we feel it is important to have daily Doctor’s catch up over coffee\lunch to support each other.

The surgery is purpose built, well situated with good access routes to and from Cardiff.

Both newly qualified and experienced GPs are welcome to apply. The post is a permanent post however, we would also consider offering a 6 or 12 month fixed term contract if preferred.

About us

The practice became an independent contractor to the NHS on 1st November 2012. The partners are Dr Wells Dr Bevan , Dr Bosanquet and Dr Wilson. Previously the practice was managed by Aneurin Bevan Health Board. The practice (as a whole) has a rapidly expanding list that is currently (Sept 2016) 7300 patients. Currently the practice has 6 doctors (5 female and 1 male) 3 nurses, 2 healthcare assistants and 9 administrative / reception staff and the practice manager. The practice is linked to the University Hospital of Wales and takes medical students. The surgery is fully computerised on INPS, Vision clinical System.

Gelligaer Surgery moved on 2nd July 2012 into a new, purpose built site in the heart of the village. This move allows the practice to expand it’s services to both it’s patients and others in the local community.
