Job summary
The Grange University Hospital Pharmacy Department has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist to work as a Directorate Pharmacist within Women and Children's Services. It is open to staff who have experience in neonatal intensive care, paediatrics, and obstetrics & gynaecology.
The post holder will provide expert clinical pharmacy services across neonatal, paediatric and obstetric & gynaecology wards, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective and patient-centred use of medicines.
As a directorate pharmacist you will play a key role in medicines optimisation, patient safety initiatives and the development of clinical protocols. You will have opportunities to support the medicines management agenda, contribute to the education and training of staff, support and mentor junior pharmacists, and participate in service improvement initiatives to support the delivery of safe patient care.
This job is fixed term for 12 months, until April 2027. If you are interested in applying for the secondmentposition, you must obtain permission from your current linemanager prior to applying for this post.
Main duties of the job
As a Specialist Women & Children's Pharmacist, the post holder will be an integral part of the clinical team with key responsibilities including:
- Delivery a high quality clinical pharmacy service to patients within the following specialities: neonatology, paediatrics, and obstetrics & gynaecology.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals to optimise patient care.
- Lead and contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of pharmacy services within women and children services, contributing to medicines optimisation and patient safety initiatives.
- Working with medical and nursing colleagues to develop medicines policies and guidelines that promote evidence-based prescribing, embedding national strategies into practice.
- Monitoring of medication usage, reviewing medicines expenditure and cost savings of medicines and horizon scanning.
- Provide education and training to pharmacists and members of the multidisciplinary team.
