Practitioner Psychologist- Cancer Services
Band 7 (0.6 w.t.e.) - Fixed term (12 Months to cover maternity leave)
We are seeking a Practitioner Psychologist who is passionate about promoting the emotional health and wellbeing of adults coping with the impact of cancer in their lives from pre-habilitation, through treatment and beyond. You would join our lively, proactive, and expanding Psychology team who are a highly valued and integral part of Cancer Services within ABUHB.
You will work closely with the other psychological care practitioners, medical and AHP colleagues within Cancer Services to deliver a co-produced psychological care pathway in a needs-led way. This will involve direct clinical work, group work, consultation, supervision, teaching, and training as well as developing resources and supporting staff teams both within the hospitals and community.
Within the wider Physical Health Speciality there are services in Palliative Care, Diabetes, Chronic Pain, Symptom Management, Respiratory, Weight Management, Neuro-Rehabilitation, Critical Care, Hepatology and Continuing Care. As psychological practitioners working in cancer, we also have excellent links with our colleagues through the All-Wales Cancer Network Psychology group. All of our teams enjoy the benefits of flexible working - with a mixture of home, clinical base, and in outpatient clinics across the Health Board.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will play a key role in promoting the psychological wellbeing of adults and their families coping with the impact of cancer and the staff who support them within ABUHB, through:
1. Provision of high-quality psychological information and advice, dissemination of specialist resources and workshops for adults, their families and staff
2. Provision of psychological support, consultation and joint working with staff who are supporting the needs of adults and their families coping with the impact of cancer.
3. Therapeutic work with adults and their families through individual work, family work, and therapeutic groups.
The post holder will also be able to contribute to the development of new psychological services for adults coping with cancer and participate in service planning as appropriate.
There will be opportunities to work with colleagues in the wider service who offer a warm, supportive atmosphere, regular peer support and supervision.
This post is fixed term for 12 months to cover maternity leave.
