Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) at The Grange University Hospital. We would welcome applications from qualified Advanced Clinical Practitioners of all backgrounds, including, but not limited to Nursing, Pharmacy and Paramedicine. The Grange University Hospital has a dynamic, motivated and friendly team with a passion for education and development.
The core role of the ACP will be to autonomously examine, diagnose and treat patients following agreed pathways. They will be responsible for the provision of effective, efficient and appropriate high quality nursing care & assessment within the Emergency Department. Such autonomous practice will be carried out in accordance with the Professional Framework for Enhanced, Advanced and Consultant Clinical Practice.
The post is advertised as a band 8a. However, applicants who do not currently meet the skills and competencies for the band 8a role, are encouraged to apply and, if successful, will be appointed under annex 21 rules supported by a development plan for 3 years.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will practice autonomously and in partnership with the multidisciplinary team as an advanced practitioner within the Emergency Department to provide patient centred clinical care.
This will encompass the assessment, examination, diagnosis, treatment and subsequent safe referral onwards or discharge of patients from the Emergency Department.
Analyse and interpret complex situations, using sound judgement and specialist knowledge to formulate individualised care plans to meet the patient's need and promote their health and wellbeing.
The post holder will work alongside trained Emergency Doctors and trainees in Emergency Medicine and under the supervision of Emergency care Consultants. The post holder will in collaboration with the Senior Nurse, Consultant Nurse and ED Consultants play a key role in the development of Emergency Care Services.
They will support the wider team to maintain the performance of Emergency Department including metrics such as 15-minute ambulance handover and 4 hour and 12-hour transit targets. The post holder will also support the wider team to ensure safe and quality care.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
