Job summary

THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR 24 MONTHS DUE TO FUNDING

The post holder will be part of the Forensic Psychiatry Service and the Adult Clinical Psychology Service within the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.

The post-holder will support the provision of a psychological consultancy and therapy service to a range of complex men and women managed by the Probation Service in the community, under the supervision of Registrant Psychologists. The post is office-based across a range of locations and is full-time at 37.5 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be expected to work alongside Registrant Psychologists to support the administration of the service, as well as developing formulations and treatment plans to address the presenting difficulties of service users managed by the Probation Service.

The role will involve managing the referral process for our consultancy and therapy services, supporting qualified staff in delivering interventions with service users, developing formulations under supervision, supporting residents at Approved Premises and assisting with the administration of therapy groups. The successful applicant will engage in a range of training opportunities and be expected to apply these skills with colleagues and service users. Opportunities are available to support the offer of reflective practice and formulation groups with the aim of enhancing the psychological mindedness of the workforce. There will also be opportunities to complete clinical work with service users under the supervision of qualified staff.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply
