Gastroenterology Pathway Coordinator

Job summary

The Gastroenterology Pathway Coordinator role is a key enabler in the management of efficient pathways within the Gastroenterology service. The post holder will work in close liaison with key stakeholders to help to maintain a high level of patient care across the service.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assist with clinic co-ordination, clerical and clinical validation and sub-categorisation of clinics, to help ensure that new and follow up appointments are timely.

They will work within dedicated speciality clinical areas to facilitate the smooth running of the patient journey by ensuring that co-ordinated and streamlined administrative processes revolve around the patient and their individual needs.

The post holder will implement all administrative processes along the patient pathway, to ensure the patient's journey is managed efficiently and in accordance with agreed targets and priorities.

Provide cross-cover to ensure a consistent and effective administrative service is maintained at all times across the Gastroenterology service.

Responsible for validating outpatient, treatment and follow up waiting lists within the Directorate to support the achievement of organisational objectives and key Welsh Government targets.

To administratively validate waiting lists of patients with open referral to treatment (RTT) pathways, determine the correct RTT clock status for each and update the UHB system, in order to ensure the RTT position is accurately reported.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • Educated to A level standard or equivalent qualification or sufficient relevant experience.
  • Relevant practical experience incorporates the use of Myrddin Administration System and Clinical Workstation for recording or validating of clinical activity to diploma level equivalent.
