24 hour Registered Nurse post in the Fracture and Orthopaedic unit in the Royal Gwent hospital
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse in our FOU Outpatient clinic department within the Royal Gwent Hospital.
The unit is an established centre of excellence for the British Orthopaedic Association Casting Certificate course. There will be a requirement to undertake this course after a suitable period of experience working in the plaster room.
The work is varied and challenging and spans patients from babies to the older adult. Cross site working will be required at times to support the services we deliver in GUH, NHH and YYF. The team is hard working and supportive.
The role will involve carrying out the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of patient care within the department.
To provide prescribed nursing care without direct supervision.
Contribute to the development/evaluation of nursing practice.
Act in accordance with the NMC (UKCC) Professional Code of Conduct.
Main duties of the job
Successfully complete a locally approved orientation programme.
To support a clinical environment that is patient and public focused.
Assist the Team Leader with managing a patient caseload.
To assist in developing an environment which supports the value of nursing care within then T&O setting
To carry out the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of patient care.
To liaise and communicate with members of the multidisciplinary team.
To be committed to assuring the quality of care delivered.
To be aware of and demonstrate practice based on current advances In nursing.
To act as an advocate for patients and their significant others.
To maintain accurate records/standards for documentation including IT, data collection and input.
To participate in the formal monitoring of standards.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply
