An exciting opportunity has arisen for registered midwives band 6 to join our maternity team at Aneurin Bevan.
Aneurin Bevan University Health Board supports approximately 5500 births per year and covers a wide geographical area offering services to a diverse community.
We have all our acute services based at the Grange university Hospital which is a new state of the art, purpose built hospital offering single rooms for all women/ birth people for antenatal, birth and postnatal care. In this acute setting we also have a very successful, tranquil along side birth centre averaging approximately 70-80 births per month, offering choice and meeting the needs of both Obstetric led and Midwifery led women/birth people and their families.
The Community Midwifery teams covers wide geographical & diverse communities from the city of Newport to the Welsh valleys. We support women's choices whether birthing at home or in our free standing birth centre. We offer women parent education working in collaboration with Early Years, Aqua natal, Aromatherapy, Yoga, & baby massage. We offer community induction days and community prompt to enhance your community skills.
There is access to training to support your professional development and enhance your midwifery skills.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will offer a full range of care needs and develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care throughout the antenatal, intra-partum and postnatal period for women/birth people, babies and their families, facilitating them in the decision making process in all aspects of their care.
They will demonstrate an ability to manage own work load, prioritising and planning care provision for women/birth people and their families.
Demonstrate the ability to communicate openly and respectfully with women/birth people and their families, with colleagues at all levels within the organisation and multi-agency groups.
They will be a competent autonomous practitioner who practices within their sphere of practice, and adheres to trust policies and guidelines. Participate with audit and support the clinical governance agenda.
They will support and guide junior midwives and student midwives within all clinical areas.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
