Aneurin Bevan University Health Board
The closing date is 13 January 2025
Job summary
The Psychological Health Practitioner (PHP) service represents a successful service development initiative to increase GP capacity in relation to mental health assessments at surgery level. The PHP service introduced a novel workforce (non-registrant band 5 practitioners) tooffer frontline appointments of common mental health difficulties, with co-occurring safeguarding and risk assessment, with the intention to formulate an appropriate plan to best support the person's needs. This invaluable work is supervised, and quality assured, by experienced band 7 psychological therapists.
The Deputy Service Lead (DSL) is responsible for supporting the Service Lead in providing clinical leadership in the delivery of psychological therapies and operational management within this innovative, face-paced service. This post will support the development, delivery, and coordination of high-quality psychologically informed care, while also overseeing the operational aspects of the service, ensuring its efficiency and alignment with NHS standards and best practice. The role combines both clinical expertise in psychological therapy outcomes, and staff performance, as well as operational management experience to facilitate the smooth running of the service.
Main duties of the job
The DSL will largely be responsible for the smooth operational running of the PHP service, including: monitoring and audit of quality; supporting the service in implementation and evaluation of quality improvement initiatives; support supervisors in the recruitment and training of all PHP service personnel. The DSL will be responsible for the line management of the supervisor team.
As an experienced psychological therapist and supervisor, the DSL may offer case management supervision to a limited number of PHPs routinely, but will be required to support the supervisors in the provision of case management for PHPs, when required.
Relationship development and management is key as the DSL will support the supervisors in interfacing with stakeholders (specifically GP surgeries/NCN teams), where required, as well as the wider ABUHB mental health services and public health/third sector partners.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
