Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 8B Clinical Psychologist to become part of an innovative and passionate team that focuses on meeting the needs of children and young people who are experiencing the effects of developmental trauma / attachment difficulties. The Gwent Attachment Service works with the systems around children, young people and their families to develop knowledge and understanding about the impact of disrupted attachment and developmental trauma and to support these networks to feel confident to offer support in a way that improves positive outcomes. The Service has well established links with professionals across health, social care, education and youth justice in Gwent and this post-holder would be responsible for maintaining and expanding these links and developing and delivering collaborative models of practice that best meet the needs of this population. The team is supportive, energetic and creative and this post-holder will have the opportunity to take a lead role in an ongoing cycle of innovative practice. The post is based within the Child and Family Psychological Health Service and the post holder would benefit from the well-established peer support and continuing professional development opportunities that exist within the department.

We are based near Newport 15 miles from Cardiff, and serving Pan Gwent We are 10 minutes from the M4 with easy access to Bristol and Cardiff and with the Brecon Beacons to the North.

Main duties of the job

• Specialist clinical and strategic leadership to the team, in collaboration with the Service Lead
• Co-ordinating the team capacity and the requests for intervention from multi-agency partners to ensure the service delivers a prudent healthcare model with passed on benefits to children, young people and their families.
• Provide support and supervision to the team.
• Commitment to working creatively and reflectively with children and young people and their families with experiences of developmental trauma and disrupted attachment.
• Provide training, consultation and supervision to a wide range of professionals andresponsibility for disseminating learning and research outcomes to key stakeholders.
• Collaboration with other professionals across agencies and driving forward strategic programmes of work with these systems.
