Job summary
An exciting opportunity has become available for an Occupational Therapy (OT) Support Worker to join the Older Adult OT Team in Caerphilly.The post holder will provide occupational therapy interventions and will also support with assessments, working under the direction of the Senior Occupational Therapist within the team.The post offers an excellent opportunity for someone with experience of support work and with a passion for working within dementia care todevelop their skills and to work in a person-centred way to achieve what is important to people living with dementia.
The post holder will be required to work 27.75 hours per week between Monday to Friday (to include Thursday and Friday each week) with some flexibility around hours as needed to meet the needs of the service users and to promote a work lifebalance.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will work within a multi-disciplinary team providing OT interventions in an inpatient setting under the direction of the seniorOccupational Therapist on Annwylfan Ward.Occupational Therapists work with people to establish the impact of their mental health issues on their day to day occupations (the things peoplewant or need to do to live a personally meaningful life). Within this inpatient setting, they devise person-centred plans for intervention, for examplegroup interventions and one to one interventions, utilising meaningful activities with the person to further assess and maintain their occupationalskills. Interventions offered aim to maximise opportunities to engage in meaningful occupations and to address individual goals.The post holder will be required to work collaboratively within the OT team and within the wider MDT, developing excellent working relationships,and to support with developing and promoting the role of OT within this setting.The OT service is committed to delivering a high quality service and therefore requires that all OT support workers participate in the Agoredtraining programme which offers excellent opportunity for development.The successful applicant will:- have excellent communications skills- have the ability to think creatively and flexibly- be able to demonstrate empathy, compassion and values of person-centred care.
