Job summary

We are looking for occupational therapy support staff who are commitment to supporting people to maximising their independence, have integrity and enthusiasm. The individual needs to be passionate and able to lead by example in assessing and implementing reablement support alongside our health colleagues in Nevill Hall Hospital and enablement workers in the community.

The post holder will work under the supervision of an occupational therapist(s) but work independently to provide therapy intervention to people referred to the Monmouthshire Integrated OT service on an individual basis within the hospital or community setting.

The post holder will be expected to undertake specific technical and administrative tasks as delegated by the Therapy Lead or supervising OT.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of the occupational therapy and the multi-disciplinary team.

To carry out specific standardised and non-standardised assessments under the guidance of an OT.

To screen referrals for priority intervention by OT.

To demonstrate sound clinical reasoning skills that underpin all aspects of practice.

To recognise own limitations within clinical practice/knowledge and to seek advice and guidance from the OT in cases that are beyond their clinical experience and accountability.

To contribute to improvement of systems related to practice and clinical issues.

To develop information that can be utilised for service-users and carers. To adhere to the COT Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and all other relevant Health Board policies and procedures

To develop and maintain up to date knowledge and skills relevant to this post.

To recognise limitations and potential scope for development to enhance practice.

To actively participate in the induction of students and new staff within this setting.
