Job summary

We have an exciting vacancy with our FOU Clinic at the Royal Gwent Hospital for an Orthopaedic Practitioner.

The post holder will provide, without direct supervision, Orthopaedic Casting and Bracing services across the Division of Surgery on various sites in ABUHB; primarily within Fracture and Orthopaedic clinics but also wards, theatres, Podiatry, Physiotherapy and Emergency Departments (ED) if the need arises.

The post holder will contribute to the T&O Clinic provision by supporting staff in the Fracture or Orthopaedic Clinics on a regular basis.

Main duties of the job

To support a clinical environment that is patient and public focused.

To participate in the delivery of patient care and undertake clinical duties as determined by the Nurse Manager.

To utilise customer care skills when caring for patients and relatives.

To maintain and protect confidential information relating to patients.

To undertake any other duties consistent with the overall grade of the post.

To establish and maintain good working relationships with patients, relatives and members of the inter-disciplinary team.

To work as a key member of the team with the patient to reach your negotiated goals.

To assess each patient individually and to plan, implement and evaluate care.

To identify potential problems as a result of cast application and instigate measures to eliminate/minimise risk.

To provide appropriate walking aids and teach the correct use to the patients, for example crutches.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
