Job summary
Aneurin Bevan University Health Board Theatre Directorate are seeking a self-motivated, dynamic and assertive Band 6 Deputy Team Leader for our orthopaedic theatres. We have four orthopaedic theatres at our Royal Gwent Hospital site where we carry out a range of elective ortho procedures. One of our theatres was completely refurbished last year and houses our specialist spinal work. The successful candidate will become part of a busy and friendly elective department that currently work Monday to Friday. Our trauma work is carried out at the new Grange University Hospital in Cwmbran and there will be an occasional need to provide cross cover if required and this would be allocated on a rotational basis.
Main duties of the job
Applicants must be a first level registered nurse /ODP and hold a post graduate qualification in a relevant degree or be willing to work towards. Extensive orthopaedic knowledge and experience is essential to this role. Part of the role will involve acting as the kit coordinator for the department and arranging the equipment, loan kit and liaising with surgeons and company representatives to ensure efficient and safe operating practices. It is envisaged that this role will be shared between the senior team members so the role will involve a mix of clinical and coordinator shifts. The successful candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal, communication and organisational skills and have previous experience in managing a team. You will be expected to take charge of the unit when required and to support the Orthopaedic Team Leader in order to provide safe and quality patient care whilst also meeting the requirements of clinical futures.
