Job summary

Working closely with and providing support to the qualified staff in Gwent General Dental Services (GDS) and the Community Dental Services (CDS) in order to ensure the smooth running of dental clinics ensuring safe patient focused care at all times. To undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade and responsibility of the post as required by the Dental Nurse Manager such as covering the dental helpline at Cwmbran dental clinic - 15 hours per week and Oral Health Assistant - 15 hours per week.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

30 hours per week, to be worked over 4 days Monday - Thursday based at Cwmbran. This role will be spilt 2 days, Monday and Tuesday (dental helpline) and Wednesday and Thursday (Oral Health Assistant).

Oral Health Assistant is a post working closely with and providing support to the qualified staff in the General Dental Services (GDS) and the Community Dental Services (CDS). Duties include reception and administration, assisting dental nurses in the decontamination process.

We are currently looking for an experienced person with customer care and reception skills who are friendly enthusiastic and approachable individual based at Cwmbran dental clinic, although you may be expected to travel to the other dental clinics across Gwent. Travelling expenses are paid from your base or home.

This role involves you to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team. The post holder will be proficient in dealing with confidentiality issues and to be courteous at all times with excellent communication skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and workload. To be computer literate is essential. A flexible and co-operative approach to work will be important.
