An opportunity has arisen within the Orthopaedic Directorate for a Patient Scheduling Clerk with excellent organisational skills to work collaboratively with our nursing, medical and scheduling team. The role is pivotal in managing Orthopaedic surgery and will take responsibility for very high volume diaries.
Main duties of the job
You should be resilient, motivated, organised, work well under pressure and have exceptional communication skills. You will work closely with the consultants, nursing, scheduling and directorate management team to ensure that the Health Board access policy is adhered to and that all admin related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met.
In addition you will be a named contact point for your Consultant team, liaising with other departments, patients and relatives, as well as clinical colleagues to ensure that patient admissions are appropriately planned and managed.The post holder will:
Work with other scheduling staff to ensure that there is efficient and effective use of available resources at all times.
Arrange admissions, and associated pre-operative assessment clinics and theatre lists.
Play a key central role within the services and is required to work in close liaison with NHS colleagues, patients and the general public.
Require knowledge of the RTT pathways to ensure patients are treated within their pathway without delay.
Ensure that cancellations are rebooked.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply
This post is secondment for 12 months due to - meet the needs of the service
