Job summary
The Infection Prevention Advisor (HCSW) will work under the guidance of the Infection Prevention and Control Lead Nurse to provide targeted training, audit and administrative functions managing data associated to alert organism surveillance to the lead nurse and to the wider infection prevention team.
The post holder will work independently in a range of health and social care settings both across hospital & Community sites within ABUHB.The role requires excellent organisational skills and administrative duties such as record keeping and accuracy in data base entry, collating information, and filtering of surveillance data.
The post holder will be responsible for requesting and collating information and creating simple reports to a pre-set format that will be used to inform assurance of infection prevention related performance.There will be an expectation that the post holder will be able to provide basic training sessions and (e.g. hand hygiene and PPE) conduct audits independently in a variety of settings.
The post holder will work under direction from the Senior IPaC Nurse and in partnership with other Infection Prevention Nurses to prevent and control infection in health and social care across hospital & community areas.

An exciting opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic, confident individual to join the newly developed Infection Prevention Team for Primary Care and Community. We are currently involved in a transformation project where we are engaging with Care Homes, District Nursing Teams and GP surgeries as well as Hospital settings.
We are looking to recruit an Infection Prevention Officer, who will work under the guidance of the Senior Infection Prevention Nurses in the Infection Prevention Team. The post is funded until the end of March 2025.
The successful applicant will support the team to :
- Provide education and training for health and social care teams working in the community & hospital.
- Audit community / hospital health and social care settings.
- Manage and report infection surveillance data
The role requires excellent organisational skills and administrative duties such as record keeping and accuracy on database entry, collating information and management of surveillance data.
We are inviting expressions of interest and will consider both secondment and fixed term contracts.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
