Job summary

We currently have 1 full time vacancy and 1 part time vacancy for Band 5 Registered Nurses in the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport. The posts provide a diverse range of care within General Surgery.

General Surgery has established and well organised wards with excellent performance in multi disciplinary working and discharge rates. The directorate is looking for enthusiastic and motivated nurses who are keen to pursue a career within General Surgery.

Main duties of the job

To assess, plan, deliver and evaluate patient care using an agreed patient pathway.To act as a patient advocate through the application of ethical, legal and professional knowledge and skillsTo work within agreed policies and proceduresParticipate in relevant data collection for clinical trialsTo liaise and communicate with members of the multi-disciplinary team in the planning and delivery of patient care.To maintain accurate records / standards for documentationManagerialTo provide leadership and supervision for junior staff and support worker

Candidates are required to be flexible and reliable in their approach to work. In return the directorate will demonstrate a commitment to both personnel and professional development to the successful candidate.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally.
