Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for A full time and Part Time Band 7 Speech & Language Therapists within Paediatric ND Services in ABUHB. These are innovative roles, based across the three children's centres and reflect the direction of the Health Board investing in Speech & Language Therapy (SLT) as one of the key players in the MDT for children with neuro-divergent profiles.
In line with All Wales ND guidance, ND Improvement Programme, NICE guidelines & RCSLT guidance, you will support the current 0-18 years ND assessment & diagnostic pathways across the region.
It is anticipated that the work plan will be as follows:
- assessment & diagnostics, working in conjunction with the MDT, in leading & supporting roles
- triage at ISCAN referral meetings
- delivery of evidence-based post-diagnostic parent/carer programmes
- "upriver" work supporting the universal & targeted services in the community
Main duties of the job
You will will independently carry out assessments, interpret results and make differential diagnosis and provide specialist intervention for children and young people with highly complex communication / swallowing difficulties. You provide second opinions within areas of specific responsibility and ensure services are using evidence-based delivery in this area.
You will take the lead role in multidisciplinary and joint consultant clinics as appropriate.
Evidence of strong organisational, communication and leadership skills are essential to compliment your advanced speech and language therapy knowledge and skills.
