Job summary

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board provides healthcare to the South East of Wales and is committed to safe, high-quality care and deliver as much of this at home, or as close to home, as possible.

Within Pharmacy, the Production Unit is responsible for the development, aseptic preparation and supply of unique patient centred medicines, including the preparation of injectable systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) and parenteral (intravenous) nutrition for neonatal and adult patients. With the advances in medicines that deliver improved outcomes for patients, demand for these critical services has been growing.

It is an exciting time for Aseptic staff as the Transforming Access to Medicines(TRAMS)NHS Wales programme to set up a shared Pharmacy Technical Service for Wales has recently been approved. TRAMS will transform how some of the most innovative and life-saving medicines including cancer therapies, intravenous antibiotics and parenteral nutrition, are prepared. This post is likely to be included in the Transforming Access to Medicines Service project, this will create a shared Centralised Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Service, to be delivered through 3 regional medicines hubs across Wales.

The successful applicant will be expected to complete an NVQ Level 2 in Aseptic Preparation and a Pre and in-process accuracy checking course.
