Professional Lead for Speech and Language Therapy for ND Services
We are looking to recruit a qualified speech and language therapist to lead on SLT intervention within the CAMHS neuro-developmental team for children and young people aged 0 - 5 years. The post holder will join an established SLT senior management team, support the clinical governance of the SLT service and have delegated financial responsibility.
The successful applicant will be expected to;
- Provide strategic management and operational direction for the delivery and development of effective and efficient speech and language (SLT) services for the CAMHS Neuro-Developmental (ND) Team.
- Be responsible for maintaining effective partnership with key stakeholders, particularly with early years partners in health and local authorities.
- Work collaboratively with the Head of SLT and the other professional leads to provide equitable management of SLT intervention within the ND service.
This is a fixed term until 31 March 2025 due to funding.

Main duties of the job

- As service requires, contribute to support/assessment/diagnostic services for children, young people and their families accessing the Neurodevelopmental service
- Provide direct clinical and professional leadership to the SLT service, including professional supervision and the development of SLT staff within the multi-disciplinary context.
- Work collaboratively with Team Managers in relation to managerial supervision, personal development reviews, conduct and performance issues relating to SLT staff in the Family & Therapies directorate.
- Take an ABUHB wide perspective ensuring that SLT provision best meets local need, within the context of the strategic direction of the SLT service.
- Ensure that SLT is represented in all relevant multi-agency and multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings.
- Contribute to budget setting for the service and provide assurance of a clinically and cost-effective service.
- Act as a source for senior professional advice to directorate management team, senior managers and external agencies concerning the professional practice, development and supervision of SLT staff employed within Neurodevelopmental services.
- Lead on service developments/projects across the directorate on behalf of the directorate management team which may not specifically relate to Speech and Language Therapy.

This will include the coordination and evaluation of service delivery and the development of joined up SLT service provision across all aspects of Neurodevelopmental service delivery.
The post holder will be clinically accountable for the practice of all SLT staff working in the paediatric Neurodevelopmental service. They will take professional responsibility for the SLT staff and will be required to work closely with Team Managers, Senior clinicians and the Directorate Management Team to ensure effective planning, development and organisation of the delivery of SLT services within the directorate. A key component of this role will involve active participation in the Family directorate management team.
