The Specialist Palliative Care Directorate in Aneurin Bevan University Health Board are seeking a Senior Clinical Fellow to work with their multi-disciplinary team at The Grange University Hospital and the Inpatient Unit at St David's Hospice.

The Palliative Care Directorate are based within the Primary Care and Community Division of Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, providing care for patients across Gwent. The Directorate is currently undergoing some exciting changes and development of services in line with Clinical Futures and in partnership with our third sector providers.

We are looking for a Senior Clinical Fellow to work within the Palliative Care Directorate, under the supervision of the Consultant in Palliative Medicine, who can provide clinical support to the hospital palliative care service. You will also have the opportunity to gain experience working within the Directorate across other sites and also within palliative care outpatient clinics and community palliative care support.

We are seeking candidates for a 1.0 WTE fixed term post for 12 months to work within our 9am to 5pm service. However, will consider part time applicants.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work in close co-operation with, and support other clinical, medical professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Health Board's patients.

Integral to the responsibilities of the post are the following requirements:-

  • To ensure the provision of afirst classclinical service.
  • To support the effective leadership to all staff engaged in thespecialty.
  • To sustain and develop teaching and research whereverappropriate.
  • To undertake all work in accordance with the Health Board's procedures and operating policies.
  • To conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Division's and Health Board's service plans.
  • To maintain the confidence of business plans and development strategies formulated for the specialty, the Medical Division or the Health Board.
